Trip to Soviet missile base in Plokstine
There are not so many military sites remaining from the Soviet Union that are available for visitors to see. Soviet missile base in Plokstine forest is an exceptional museum acquainting with life at the Nuclear missile base during the Soviet regime. The missile base was built in the sixties of the 20th century, and it had four R12 (SS-4) middle-range nuclear missiles. You will have a thrilling experience walking in low-ceiling corridors and visiting cells where Soviet army officers were targetting rockets to the West Europe countries. Finally, you will enter one of the silos where a nuclear missile was installed and prepared for launch.
The nuclear base is located in Zemaitija National Park. The sightseeing at the site takes up to one hour.
The tour begins and ends in Klaipeda.
